ABOUT THE FARM
Nestled within the picturesque mountains of Gunnison Colorado, our 60-acre high-elevation hemp farm stands as a testament to both nature's beauty and historical legacy. With breathtaking views of the Elk Mountains to the West and the Cochetopa Hills to the South, the farm boasts a stunning backdrop that inspires awe in all who visit. Originally homesteaded in the late 1880s, it served as a ranch for a century thereafter. Our sun-grown hemp now flourishes, benefiting from the fertile soil enriched by decades of ranching and natural fertilization from grazing cattle. Positioned as the second property downstream from a high-altitude reservoir, our crops benefit from the cleanest, purest mountain waters.
We are committed to sustainable farming practices that prioritize the health of both our crops and the land. We abstain from using pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides, opting instead for natural methods of pest control and soil management. Through companion planting, crop rotation, and the integration of beneficial insects, we maintain a delicate balance within our ecosystem, ensuring the long-term vitality of our farm.
In addition to our commitment to organic cultivation, we've proudly participated as hosts in the WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) program. Welcoming volunteers from around the globe, we've shared our knowledge and passion for sustainable agriculture, fostering a vibrant community dedicated to responsible farming and environmental stewardship. Our involvement in the WWOOF program reflects our dedication to promoting sustainable practices and nurturing connections that transcend borders.
The farm's legacy extends far beyond our presence. It once served as a seasonal hunting ground for the Ute tribal people. Even today, echoes of the past resonate in the abundant wildlife that roams the valley. Today, you can still spot deer, elk, and antelope, finding sanctuary amidst the lush meadows and flowing waters. In every corner of our farm, the harmonious blend of history, nature, and agriculture creates an enchanting tapestry that captivates the senses and nurtures the soul.
